The 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will visit the new home of the PGA of America, Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco.

PGA Frisco has long been a much followed development for golf fans, and the major championships it will host prove that. It hosted the 2023 Senior PGA Championship and will host that event again in 2029. It will host the PGA Championship in 2027 and 2034. Of course, it hosts the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2031 event as well. So get ready to see a lot of golf played at this course.

The 2023 Senior PGA Championship was won by Steve Stricker in a thriller over Padraig Harrington that went to a playoff hole. Of course, this doesn’t tell us a whole lot about who will be successful on Fields Ranch East, as Stricker and Harrington seemingly are always in contention at majors. What we do know is scores should be relatively low, as -18 was the number to get into extra holes.

Gil Hanse designed the course, one that Stewart Cink described as similar to 2025 U.S. Women’s Open host Erin Hills. Avoiding trouble is always essential, but reports on this course say there is extra emphasis here. There are a lot of tough bunkers and approach shots need precise distance control. In the tough Texas winds, that could prove challenging.

The 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was won by Amy Yang of South Korea, who captured her first, long-awaited major championship at Sahalee Country Club near Seattle in fairly dominant fashion by three strokes over Jin Young Ko, Lilia Vu and Miyu Yamashita.

PREDICTION: Jin Young Ko will snap the longest streak of not winning in her career while taking her third-career major championship. From all accounts strong iron and approach play will be vital at Fields Ranch East, and when Ko is on, she is as good with her irons as anyone. While she isn’t spectacular around the greens, she is good enough to get herself out of any trouble she may work herself into. Ko hasn’t won a major since 2019, and it is time for that to change for the potentially future hall-of-famer.
