Through two rounds at the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, major champion Lexi Thompson is firmly in contention at -2.

Playing in what will likely be the lesser of the two waves, afternoon-morning, Thompson improved on her even par first round by shooting a -2 70 in the second round at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco.

Lexi hit 11/14 fairways, 11/18 greens and 28 putts. For the tournament so far, she is rankings No. 5 in strokes gained off the tee, No. 11 in strokes gained tee-to-green and No. 17 putting. That last stat could be essential, when Thompson putts well, she plays well.

Thompson hit some fantastic putts in the second round, her short game seems to be on point. This is the time she excelled last season, coming off a strong finish at the Meijer LPGA Classic.

The afternoon wave is just getting underway on Friday, but Lexi Thompson is in strong position to be a legitimate contender over the weekend.
