One of the biggest stars on the LPGA Tour’s fourth major of the year ended before it could really begin, as Charley Hull withdrew due to illness at the Evian Championship.
Hull made it through 12 holes, making three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine alongside Haeran Ryu and Ruoning Yin before she collapsed twice. She was seen sitting on the course with her caddie shading her with an umbrella. She needed a 15-minute medical break before trying to continue playing. She was carted off the course before she could finish out the hole.
According to the broadcast of the event, Hull has been dealing with a virus as of late that seems to have played a role in the medical issue.
The temperature is not particularly hot at Evian, but it is sunny and known to be a very hilly golf course that can be difficult to walk.
Hull is still looking for her first major championship of her career, she has one top-five finish in her career at this course and was coming in with good form after a solid performance on the Ladies European Tour last week.
