For the first time in her career, the top ranked player in the world, Jeeno Thitikul, won the only LPGA Tour event played in her home country, the Honda LPGA Thailand.
Coming into the final round, Thitikul held a two-stroke lead over Hyo Joo Kim. A slow start from Thitikul and a hot start by Chizzy Iwai made it close.
Through four holes, Thitikul was even, while Iwai was -2. Both found success toward the end of the front nine, with Thitikul making three birdies in a row, and Iwai having an eagle on the par 5 seventh hole.
Trailing by just two strokes, Iwai made the turn a hole ahead of Thitikul, and made eagle on the par 5 10th to get into a share of the lead. Iwai’s round would stall from there though, as she finished with eight consecutive pars to finish in solo second.
Thitikul did just enough on the back nine to get the win, making two birdies and one bogey. The final birdie, on the par 4 17, where she hit a beautiful and confident putt, was ultimately the difference.
While this is Thitikul’s first time winning on the LPGA Tour in Thailand, she has won twice in Thailand on the Ladies European Tour and five times on the Thai LPGA Tour.
Thitikul turned 23 just two days ago and now already has eight LPGA Tour victories. The last time Thitikul has finished outside of the top seven on the LPGA Tour was at the AIG Women’s Open in 2025, which kicked off in July. She has now won three of her last five events, and is the unquestioned top player in the world.
