One of the least talked about but most interesting stories of the 2025 LPGA Tour season has been the emergence of Lindy Duncan.

Lindy Duncan is 34-years-old and has played on the LPGA Tour since 2014. She has mostly been an up-and-down player, accumulating only eight top-10 finishes between 2014 and 2024 and only finished top 80 in the CME Standings once in that timeframe.

Fast forward to 2025 and she has outperformed her previous output significantly. Duncan has six top-11 finishes and three top-five finishes this season. One of those high finishes was in the Chevron Championship, where she made the crowded playoff and nearly won. She has had some inconsistency with six missed cuts, but she still currently ranks No. 32 in the CME Standings.

In the current United States Solheim Cup standings, she currently ranks No. 8, the highest of any potential first-time players. She has also crashed the top-50 in the Rolex Rankings. She ranks No. 37 in strokes gained, and finished in seventh place at last week’s Buick LPGA Shanghai and is in good form in Korea this week.

A clear struggle for Duncan will be the amount of available spots on this United States team. The Americans dominated the last Solheim Cup with very few bad performers. Ally Ewing’s retirement opens up a slot, but that will likely be filled by Angel Yin or Yealimi Noh, both of whom seem to have a good chance to make the team.

Alison Lee and Lexi Thompson seemingly opened up additional spots. Lee had her first child early this year, but has returned to professional golf and played very well. Thompson retired from full-time play, but has continued on a reduced schedule with some solid results.

The United States got a big boost from Sarah Schmelzel and Lauren Coughlin in 2024. Two solid veterans who made the team for the first time late in their careers. If there is a spot available, Duncan can fill a similar role.
