The Junior Ryder Cup, an event that takes place the week of the Ryder Cup every other year, pitting the best junior players from the United States against the best juniors from Europe. Unlike the professional Ryder Cup though, the Junior Ryder Cup combines six boys with six girls. Here are the six players representing the United States on the Junior Ryder Cup:
ASTERISK TALLEY
16-year-old Asterisk Talley is without any doubt, the most famous female junior player in the world currently. The 16-year-old from California has won low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open, finished runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the U.S. Girls’ Junior. Talley will be off to play at Stanford after her junior career is done, where she will undoubtedly be one of the most hyped college women’s golfers ever.
ANNA FANG
Like Talley, Anna Fang is soon off to play at Stanford, where the two will work to continue the Cardinal’s dynasty, but for now she is arguably the second most notable junior in the United States. Fang is remarkably consistent on the amateur circuit, ranking No. 4 in the AJGA Standings and No. 68 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. In her last six junior events, she has finished top-10 in each of them.
ZOE CUSACK
Cusack, who is soon off to play at the University of Virginia, is ranked No. 18 in the current AJGA standings and No. 257 in the WAGR. Cusack recently finished runner-up at the Girls’ Junior PGA Championship and won this year’s Maryland Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship.
